Mike has been working in the broadcast audio industry for all his working life, some 35 years as a broadcast engineer at Marconi and then Piccadilly Radio & Key 103. He has been an OB engineer for Piccadilly Radio and then with his own sound OB truck Omnibuss Mobile.
He has worked with Pro Tools since the mid 90s growing up with it when it was 4 tracks on a good day with a following wind! He has been recording, editing and mixing documentaries, comedy and drama for both radio and TV as well as doing the occasional music project. Add to that providing 24/7 Pro Tools support for 15 years, as well as being a broadcast audio consultant & trainer. He has been described as ‘an oasis of calm in a stormy creative world; quick, creative & easy to work with; always going the extra mile; and invests himself in the success of your project’.
Regular readers of Sound on Sound will also be familiar with Mike’s Pro Tools column and Mike is now the editor for Pro Tools Expert and is Mr RX It providing training and tips & tricks on iZotope's RX software and is becoming Mr Loudness with his popular loudness training resources.
For Mike the line between work and hobbies is a very fuzzy grey one but to get away from technology he is building a live steam garden railway and doing Codeword puzzles.
