Using Waves Maserati VX1
Logic Pro X contains a plethora of great sounding EQ, compressor, delay, reverb plug-ins useful for vocal processing. A great deal of control and creative possibility is available in shaping the sound of a track with what is bundled with you DAW. It can however be time-consuming experimenting and zeroing in on the optimal signal flow and settings for vocal processing. The idea behind Waves signature series vocal processing plug-ins is that these types of products do a lot of the work in advance for you, while still offering a degree of creative control.
Not only do they take the grunt work out of the equation, they get well known experienced engineers with proven track records to set the important basic parameter values in advance; so they’re ready and waiting for you as soon as the plug-in is called up. They are a great way of getting excellent vocal sounds, with a complete unified set of processes designed to work together, all housed in one plug-in.
In this series, I’ll look at four of these signature series vocal processing plug-ins. Do they offer the same degree of control and variety as using Logic’s plug-ins individually? No, they don’t. Is that a bad thing though? No, not necessarily. Sometimes (often!) you just want to be able to dial up a great sound quickly and easily. One doesn’t always need to sift through a set of forty-eight screwdrivers, when there are just a few standard size screws to adjust!
